About Us

Our research group works at the intersection of nano-device engineering and photonic physics, including but not limited to silicon/silicon nitride/lithium niobate integrated photonic chips, III-V semiconductor lasers, condensed-matter physics, nano-optomechanics and nano-acoustics, topological physics, and metamaterials.

We believe research is all about exploration and discovery. Thus, we're building a supportive group where everyone can grow — and have fun doing it. We hope every member can enjoy the joy of exploring the unknown, unleash creativity in an open and free atmosphere, and eventually grow into an independent and competent researcher. If you are interested in our research, feel free to contact the PI directly at jwma@hku.hk. You will typically receive a reply within 3 business days.
